About Metabolic

Metabolic’s mission is to transition the global economy to a fundamentally sustainable state. We advise governments, businesses, and NGOs on how to adapt to a fast-changing global context. Combining systems thinking and data science, we map and understand local and global systems to assess where to intervene and develop solutions that can dramatically shift how the economy functions. 

We are a team of around 40 people who share an ambition for catalyzing a sustainable future. In our 6 years of existence, we have developed systems analyses and circular economy strategies for over 500 clients, including WWF, Danone, Cisco, and Duracell.

About the Position

The position is based in Copenhagen and supports the development of an emerging Nordics office, working closely with Metabolic’s main office in Amsterdam. As one of the first employees in a young office, your role will actively contribute to the strategic and organizational development of Metabolic in Copenhagen and you will be part of the dynamic and entrepreneurial process of starting up a new consulting branch. 

You will support project work by functioning as a sustainability consultant where you will help gather data, perform both qualitative and quantitative analyses, develop new solutions, write reports, and manage clients. When possible, you will also be managing projects where you will ensure excellent and timely deliveries. You will primarily be working on Scandinavian projects but can also contribute to international projects when relevant and desirable. 

The position would begin in the Fall of 2019, although the starting date is flexible. It requires you to work in Copenhagen.


Your Profile

You are profoundly dedicated to sustainability or other globally essential causes and you are focused on growing personally and professionally to leverage your impact. 

You have experience in managing larger projects and working in a consulting-like fashion in the field of sustainability and environmental science. Additionally, you are proficient with quantitative data management through tools like excel, python, Power BI or others, while also recognising the importance of applying qualitative analysis and contextual understanding. 

As an applicant for the position, we expect you to live up to these criteria:

  • Fluency in English, 
  • Fluency in Danish or Norwegian
  • Experience with consulting work and project management
  • Proficiency with quantitative analysis
  • Understanding of technical aspects of sustainability and circular economy
  • Proven ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
  • Video experience advantageous

 An ideal candidate also meets one or more of these criteria:   

  • Experience with entrepreneurial environments and organisational development
  • Programming skills and experience with machine learning techniques
  • Existing network in the field of sustainability 
  • Strong technical knowledge within environmental science and industrial ecology
