About the Role

Metabolic is seeking a senior back-end developer to join our software team. You will be part of a scrum team and work closely with our lead software architect. You will be responsible for back-end implementation within a small but growing software team. You will build infrastructure, cloud resources, etc., implementing best industry practices in existing and new products, like TDD, and will be responsible for guarding back-end-related processes and ensuring guidelines are met during development projects. You will work closely with our software architect, deciding together which technologies to use and creating technical designs for tools, and you will guide and mentor less experienced back-end developers


A qualified candidate should have a solid background in building high traffic SaaS products. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about applying technology to find optimal solutions and capable of adaptively working with different programming languages and frameworks. You should have a solid attention to detail, be a proactive problem solver, and work well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

We work with a wide range of technologies, depending on what is most suitable for the problem at hand. Hence, we are looking for developers who can adapt rapidly to new challenges and are keen to learn.

  • 5+ years’ relevant professional work experience
  • Professional work experience with building high traffic web applications (SAAS). 
  • Familiar with an agile development process
  • Familiar with test-driven development (unit testing, integration testing)
  • Preferably, a track record of implementations with technology such as: 
    • Python
    • Git 
    • Linux 
    • Node.js
    • Go 
    • PostgreSQL
    • GraphQL and Restful APIs
  • Experience with the following tools:
    • Gitlab
    • Sentry
    • Sonarqube
  • Bonus (but not required): DevOps experience, with an understanding how to operate a Kubernetes cluster and CI/CD pipelines

This is a full-time position and has a planned starting date of Spring 2021 (although exact date is flexible). It requires you to be willing and able to live and work in the Netherlands.
