About the Team

Sustainable Industries is one of three divisions within Metabolic Consulting. Our services are focused on helping organizations understand their impact and formulate reduction strategies and embrace circularity as part of their operations. The division is divided into 3 domains: sustainable finance, sustainable procurement and circular product systems.

About the Position

We’re looking for a Project Manager with experience in sustainability consulting who is keen to apply their knowledge and experience to help solve critical sustainability challenges.

As a project manager, you will have a good understanding of sustainability concepts and ESG reporting requirements. You should be dedicated to empowering your team members, ensuring that they are able to work on tasks that suit their qualities and preferences.  You will be the main point of contact with the client, taking on a leading role within the team and engaging independently with external stakeholders. You will also coordinate small teams of 3-6 colleagues and may coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. You will be responsible for ensuring quality deliverables and the proper capacity planning of these team members within each project.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage various types of projects, from impact assessments, carbon footprints to circularity opportunity explorations and corporate sustainability strategy development.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards, while also meeting clients’ expectations.
  • Monitor and provide updates on the progress and health of projects.
  • Maintain key relationships with clients and other sector stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to formulate strategies and interventions tailored to clients across diverse sectors and contexts.
  • Oversee and mentor members of your project teams.
  • Collaborate with data analysts to guide their work and extract insights
  • Coordinate the delivery of high-impact deliverables and visuals that empower our clients to take action.

Your Profile

  • Passion for sustainability, circularity, and systems change with a genuine connection to our mission.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English is an essential requirement.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of work experience in project management, preferably within a sustainability (consulting) context.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a pertinent field, such as business, environmental studies, international development, or a discipline centered around sustainability.
  • Demonstrable experience and skills in project management, stakeholder management, and client engagement.
  • A good understanding of international sustainability frameworks, guidelines, and legislation, such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, SBT, and CSRD.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing sustainability strategies and/or in supporting sustainability reporting is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening, reasoning, and influencing.
  • Good interpersonal skills, focusing on empathy, initiative, and understanding.

Our Offer

Be part of a dynamic, ambitious and international team that is passionate about sustainability and technology and making an impact. Collaborate and work alongside world-class experts in the fields of sustainability and circularity from our sister companies in the wider ecosystem. We are growing fast and are very passionate about changing the world together.

This opportunity will place you in an environment that values people with their own ideas and initiatives. We believe in flat hierarchies, shared decision-making and impact over profit. You will be able to participate in an evolving decentralized governance system and be part of a close-knit community of people with shared interests and a strong company culture.

You will also be encouraged to grow and develop, have time and space to experiment with new ideas and have dedicated time set aside for training and personal development.
