Project Developer & Partnerships Lead - Metabolic Ventures
About Metabolic Ventures
Metabolic Ventures is a non-profit foundation designed to build new ventures and non-profit organizations that remove critical barriers and lead to transformational change. Our focus is on building new ventures as a vehicle for such change, but we also create programs that generate new ventures from scratch, do consulting for pioneering organizations, and develop useful approaches to intellectual property, governance mechanisms, and financing vehicles.
Metabolic Ventures is part of the larger Metabolic organization, which specializes in combining systems thinking and data science to assess where to intervene, and develop solutions that can dramatically shift how the economy functions. Alongside venture building, Metabolic has a consulting branch, a think tank, and a software arm.
About the Position
The position of Project Developer & Partnerships Lead mainly involves identifying the right business development strategies and bringing in the right projects that help our small team meet its commercial and impact objectives. For Ventures, which is focused on building new organizations, building out key knowledge, and implementing unique programs, this can be a challenging task, requiring you to know the market and the needs of different stakeholders, help shape projects we want to be working on, and balancing different types of income (such as EU projects, consulting, and our own project development) that satisfy income goals. As part of that, the role also asks you to build and nurture partnerships with organizations we want to work with, as well as with funders and aligned organizations from whom we can acquire aligned income. The role also involves doing some work on projects, mostly to more fully understand what the team does and where its expertise lies.

- Helping to shape, co-develop, and refine small, medium, and large projects and propositions that support the broader strategy of Metabolic Ventures, ensuring a balance between impact and commercial objectives
- Identifying and scoping relevant funding and income approaches that align to the goals of Metabolic Ventures
- Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the current landscape, system, and market trends on the one side and the capabilities of the Ventures team on the other – helping to ensure and evolve a product-market fit

- Developing and deepening complementary partnerships with aligned organizations
- Working with other teams within Metabolic that have overlapping objectives, as well as teams like business development and marketing, to identify opportunities and align expectations
- Closing the appropriate projects in order to meet our financial objectives and enable the team to grow
- Sensechecking with the ventures team to align intended projects and services with internal capacity and plans for execution
- Working with the ventures team on project execution on per needed basis, adding your unique skills and expertise
The position has an intended starting date of September or October of 2023, although the exact starting date is flexible. The position also requires you to live within or close to Amsterdam in order to work alongside the Metabolic Ventures team; however, it’s worth noting that Metabolic has a flexible office and work-from-home policy.
