BUILT Accelerator - Program Assistant

Metabolic is looking for a Program Assistant to support a two-year-long program aiming to accelerate the transition to a Circular Economy in the Built environment throughout Europe. 

If you have a background as a program assistant, administrative assistant, project coordinator or similar, and an ambition to speed up the transition to a circular economy, then this position may be a great fit!

The Program: Accelerating the Circular Economy in the Built Environment

Metabolic and Circle Economy are leading a 2-year program supported by the Laudes Foundation, that sets out to cultivate alliances, build a common narrative, and amplify proven solutions for scaling a circular economy in the built environment in Europe. Together with innovators, frontrunners and interested organizations across finance, policy, and industry, we will develop a shared understanding of how to address systemic challenges and build a shared vision for a circular building sector in Europe.

The program facilitates the collaboration of a range of organizations (Industry, government, NGO’s) driving the transition to a circular built environment across Europe. Program partners include the World Green Building Council, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and Arup.

About the Position

The Program Assistant Role will work with the Program Manager, Metabolic Team, and Consortium Partners to successfully deliver on the goals of the two-year program. By providing exceptional operational expertise to the program, this role is an opportunity to help shape the future direction of a circular built environment in Europe. 

In addition, you’ll get to know many of the frontrunner organizations driving this transition, and deepen your understanding of circularity in the built environment.

The main responsibilities of this role include  

  • Running the daily coordination of the of the program, together with the Program Manager
  • Planning and attending key meetings and events, taking notes when needed. You follow-up and coordinate on action points when relevant with all relevant program partners
  • Preparing and sending out memos, surveys, and other team communications as needed
  • Co-creation and maintenance of necessary program management documentation and progress reporting tools, ensuring the efficient and accurate tracking of the accelerator; 
  • Collaborating with the broader consortium to support the design, scheduling, and content development for roundtables and events;
  • Assisting in research tasks: supporting our team in executing a systems analysis of the European built environment and construction sector.
  • Co-drafting of key Metabolic report deliverables with the Program Manager and broader team. 

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with…

  • 1 – 3 years work experience 
  • Experience in sustainability consulting, or as an (assistant) project/program manager
  • The ability to work independently
  •  An energetic, solutions-focussed, proactive spirit;
  •  Enjoys fast-paced environments and adapting to uncertainty;
  •  Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization;
  •  Great team working skills;
  •  Strong written and spoken communication skills (English);
  •  Previous experience with stakeholder management.
  •  Proven curiosity in sustainability, social impact, and/or the built environment
  •  Self-awareness of personal career development goals.
  • For non-EU/EEA applicants: The role is dependent upon having or obtaining a visa to live and work in the Netherlands. Metabolic is a recognised visa sponsor and may support the successful candidate’s application for a work visa.
