Metabolic’s software arm serves as the software branch of the ecosystem, embedding earth systems intelligence and sustainability assessment into internal and external tools that support Metabolic’s overall mission. Our goal is to develop tools that provide the most accurate and insightful sustainability intelligence to decision-makers around the world, democratizing access to this expertise in the process.
We are a growing team consisting of front-end and back-end developers, project managers and a UX designer. The team is currently transitioning from an internal software department working project-based to a more independent team focusing on Metabolic’s future software products.
About the Role
Metabolic is seeking a medior back-end developer to join our team. You will be part of a team of three other back-end developers and a broader software team of about 15 people. You will be responsible for part of the back-end implementation within a small but growing software team. You will build infrastructure, cloud resources, etc., implementing best industry practices in existing and new products, like TDD, and will be responsible for guarding back-end-related processes and ensuring guidelines are met during development projects. You will work closely with our software architect, deciding together which technologies to use and creating technical designs for tools, and you will guide and mentor less experienced back-end developers
- 2+ years’ relevant professional work experience
- Professional work experience with building high traffic web applications (SAAS).
- Familiar with an agile development process
- Familiar with test-driven development (unit testing, integration testing)
- Preferably, a track record of implementations with technology such as:
- GraphQL and Restful APIs
- Experience with the following tools (or similar) is a plus:
- Bonus (but not required): DevOps experience, with an understanding how to operate a Kubernetes cluster and CI/CD pipelines
This is a full-time position and has a planned starting date of Fall 2021 (although exact date is flexible). It requires you to be willing and able to live and work in the Netherlands.
