About the Position

The People & Operations team is a critical part of our ecosystem at Metabolic, an essential element in helping us to maximize our overall impact and manage a variety of organizations that together serve a coherent sustainability mission.

We are currently recruiting for an HR Manager to join our team. In this unique and exciting opportunity, you will be a valued member of our People & Operations team (4 people in HR, including you!), with a focus on all aspects of HR, including strategy, business partnering, and also the administration side. Your role will contribute to our mission by supporting our teams, the Chief Operating Officer and your HR teammates on all HR-related programmes and initiatives across our ecosystem of companies.

You will focus on Learning & Development, training and the Metabolic Internship program as a key part of your role. You will also have the opportunity to focus on the aspects of HR that suits your interests and development, as well as contributing to the overall function of the team in a generalist role.

Your Profile

You love working with people with a supportive mindset and enjoy promoting a collaborative nurturing working environment, whilst also maintaining a strong understanding of HR processes, policy and employment law to ensure resilient effective business operations and a first class professional HR department for your colleagues. You enjoy working and collaborating closely across the business to achieve shared objectives and problem solve creatively.

You are an effective communicator with the ability to drive initiatives and projects autonomously, as well as collaborating with small teams. We are looking for a creative and solutions-oriented individual with a people focused mindset.


You are excited to engage with new developments in the field of human resources by adapting to legislative changes in labour law, implementing innovative new policies, technologies, and practices. You are able to apply these proactively and creatively in the unique context in which we work.

You will possess working experience in an HR environment with strong management and administrative skills, and ideally be educated in a relevant HR discipline, preferably with earlier experience in the Netherlands but in an international setting.

The position is a full-time role and will start asap, based in our office in Amsterdam.

Key Accountabilities

You will play an integral part in delivering a professional, efficient and meaningful HR and Operational service:

  • Lead, collaborate and deliver on strategic HR initiatives in collaboration with your HR colleagues and key stakeholders throughout the business. 
  • Promote the values, mission and policies of the company via best practice on performance management, talent development, and HR advice and guidance. 
  • Coordinate Recruitment (for example, shortlisting, conducting interviews, arranging contracts)
  • Manage and coordinate the Learning & Development, Internship and Training initiatives of the HR team 
  • Manage, administrate and advise on all people and employment law related matters with stakeholders and business partners within the Metabolic Ecosystem. 
  • Provide general support for employees throughout the employee lifecycle. 
  • Assist with administrative employee functions in collaboration with your HR colleagues in a generalist environment (e.g. documentation, contracts, maintaining HRIS, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain clear talent management and succession planning processes within the organization.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English (strong preference for Dutch fluency)
  • 3+ years in a relevant HR role within a Dutch context.
  • Qualified with an HBO bachelor’s degree in HR or equivalent professional prior experience in a HR/Operations department
  • You have knowledge of Dutch laws, regulations and processes related to employment.

The position is full time, with a start date asap.
