About the Position

People are at the heart of all that we do at Metabolic, and we value creating a nurturing and thriving working environment through our human-centered HR and Operations advisory and support functions. The People, Operations and IT team is a critical part of our ecosystem at Metabolic, an essential element in helping us to maximize our overall impact and manage a variety of organizations that together serve a coherent sustainability mission.  

In this exciting opportunity, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth and sustainability goals of the organization by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent while fostering a culture of sustainability and innovation while guiding our team of 4 HR professionals.

Your role will contribute to our mission by supporting our teams, and partnering closely with senior leaders and managers across our Ecosystem. You will design, create and deliver innovative and positive HR initiatives and processes, while ensuring good compliance with employment laws and best practices.

This role requires a hands on mentality, strategic thinking, and a passion for driving positive impact through people in a dynamic environment.

This position is available now, and will be based at our office in Amsterdam, Netherlands. 

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Strategy and Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a People strategy aligned with Metabolic’s mission, vision, and growth objectives.
    • Lead, coordinate and inspire the HR team, by providing people management, guidance and support.
    • Represent and Influence company culture through strategic HR projects, policies and initiatives.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify HR needs and drive different initiatives which require stakeholder management and a flexible leadership style.
    • Provide sound HR advice and guidance on employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
  • Talent Acquisition and Onboarding:
    • Lead the team overseeing the full recruitment process, and support senior recruitment processes. 
    • Design and deliver creative strategies to attract and retain talent with a focus on sustainability. 
    • Coordinate effective employee lifecycle processes to ensure new employees are seamlessly integrated into the organization
  • Performance Management and Learning & Development:
    • Design and deliver performance management processes that align individual goals with our objectives.
    • Provide guidance and support to managers on performance feedback, coaching, and development plans.
    • Identify training and development needs, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver relevant programs.
  • Employee Engagement and Retention:
    • Foster a positive work environment that promotes employee engagement, well-being, and balance.
    • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction, retention, and career progression.
    • Use data analysis and insights to inform strategy within HR initiatives and across the management team.
  • HR Operations and Compliance:
    • Lead and coordinate with team members responsible for delivering quality HR operations service.
    • Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices comply with (Dutch) employment laws and regulations.
    • Provide support on HR case management and advisory practices.

Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related subject or 8-10+ years of related experience.
  • Proven experience as an HR leader, preferably in a Dutch context, with an international and diverse workforce.
  • Solid knowledge of Dutch HR practices, employment laws, and regulation in a Dutch context.
  • Proven leadership ability in a team environment, and an ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A demonstrable record of driving organizational change and implementing HR initiatives, with a record of working with others towards action and delivery. 
  • Passion for sustainability and contributing to a positive environmental impact.

  • For non-EU/EEA applicants: The role is dependent upon obtaining a visa to live and work in the Netherlands. Metabolic is a recognised visa sponsor and may support the successful candidate’s application for a work visa.
