Area Development Designer - Junior/Medior

About the Position
We are looking for an urban designer to join our team of sustainability consultants. Within your role, you will be working with a team of many different specialisms on creating sustainable cities. This includes working with municipalities, architects, developers, and other stakeholders.
Your main focus will be circular area development to assess, design, and facilitate the integration of sustainability and circular principles in urban planning and design. In addition, you may also work on different scales including the building level, city-wide, and regional scale.
We’re looking for someone who has a clear knowledge of ambitious sustainability strategies in the built environment and is experienced in translating these into spatial designs such as masterplans. You should also be familiar with Dutch spatial planning processes.
You should feel confident about taking on a leading role in a project and independently engaging with clients. We are looking for someone that is aware of new developments in the field of urban planning (such as new policies, technologies, and approaches) and uses these insights in their day to day work.
The position is a full-time role and will start asap. The position is based in our offices in Amsterdam

- A background in Urban Design, urbanism, or architecture
- Understanding of Dutch planning processes
- 2-5 years of work experience in area development and urban design
- Fluency in Dutch and English required
- Foundational knowledge of key sustainability topics and systems thinking
- Good writing skills in English and Dutch
- Excellent communication skills
- GIS (Qgis and/or ArcGIS)
- Knowledge and experience with different modelling and design tools e.g. Autocat, MicroStation and sketch-up
- Adobe Suite
